Check the document once. Know the person forever.
Identification scanning tells you the document is real. Facial recognition tells you the holder is the owner, and tells you again on every return without asking for the document at all. The two belong together, and this is what happens when they are.

Four steps, and the third one is where the value is.
Most identification products stop after step two. The reason to bind the document to the face is not the first visit. It is every visit after it.
Step 1
Verify the document once
A driver licence, state identification card, or passport is read and authenticated at the door or at a kiosk. Age is confirmed from the document, not from a judgement call.
Step 2
Bind the document to the face
The portrait on the document is matched to the person presenting it, and that pairing becomes the guest record. This is the step that makes a borrowed identification fail.
Step 3
Recognize on every return
The next visit needs no document at all. The guest is recognized on arrival in under a second, which is the difference between a queue and a walk in.
Step 4
Enforce the lists at the same moment
Self excluded, barred, and flagged individuals are evaluated at the same instant the guest is recognized, so the exclusion is enforced before entry rather than after a complaint.
Six jobs the same capture does.
Age verification at the door
Confirm age from an authenticated document rather than from a look, and keep a record of the check that survives an audit.
Kiosk and unattended entry
A guest kiosk can verify a document, capture a face, and enroll a returning guest without a member of staff standing at it.
Fake and borrowed identification
A document that authenticates but does not match the person holding it is the most common case, and it is only caught by binding the portrait to the face.
Expedited entry for known guests
Once a guest is enrolled, recognition replaces the document check entirely and entry becomes a walk past a camera.
Exclusion enforcement without an identification check
A self excluded patron who declines to present a document is still recognized, which is exactly the case a document only process misses.
Vendor, contractor, and visitor badging
The same verification and enrollment applies to people who are not guests, so who was on the floor is part of the same record.
A genuine document held by the wrong person.
A scanner authenticates the document. It has no opinion about who is holding it. The borrowed licence and the shared identification card are the most common problems at a door, and neither is a forgery, so neither fails a document test. Matching the portrait to the face is what turns that from an unanswerable question into a decision.
- ✓The portrait on the document is matched to the person presenting it.
- ✓The pairing becomes the guest record, so the next visit needs no document.
- ✓Exclusion and barred lists are evaluated at the same instant.
- ✓Everything stays on servers the property owns.
- ✓A human confirms before any action is taken against a person.
Identity and age verification, answered
- What is the difference between ID scanning and facial recognition?
- Identification scanning reads and authenticates a document, and it answers whether the document is real and what it says. Facial recognition answers whether the person in front of you is the person you already know. Each is weak on its own. A document check cannot tell you the holder is not its owner, and recognition alone cannot establish a legal age or a legal name. Binding the two at the first visit is what makes both of them strong.
- Can a guest be verified once and recognized afterwards?
- Yes, and that is the whole design. The document is verified and bound to the face on the first visit. Every return after that is a recognition event that takes under a second, with no document requested.
- Does this work at an unattended kiosk?
- Yes. A kiosk can read the document, capture the portrait, match the two, and enroll the guest without a member of staff present. Exclusion and barred list evaluation happens in the same moment.
- What happens to the identification data?
- It stays on the property. eConnect runs on servers the operation owns, so the document data, the face templates, and the video remain on site under the property’s own retention policy.
- Does eConnect replace the ID scanner we already have?
- Not necessarily. eConnect integrates with identification verification systems already deployed, and it can also perform the capture itself. The important part is that whatever reads the document hands the portrait to the recognition layer, so the guest is known on the next visit.
- How accurate is the face match?
- eConnect publishes a match accuracy figure above 99 percent, measured against National Institute of Standards and Technology evaluation. Every deployment includes a review step, and a human confirms before any action is taken against a person.
